Labor Day in the Thumb

Broken Rocks "The Cove"
We spent this past Labor Day weekend in Port Austin, which is located at the tip of the thumb.  My parents have a home in an area called Broken Rocks, because of the huge boulders that line the shore. As always it is a crazy visit with my family, 3 dogs and 1 cat, from which memories are made.  This year we were joined by my daughter's roommate Alisa.  I'm not sure how much longer we will have this beautiful spot to escape to, but I'm definitely treasuring the times we have.

Looking west from the "Cove" shoreline.

Hannah and Alisa striking a pose.
Apparently we arrived at the beach shortly after Hannah and Alisa had finished swimming to a large boulder out a ways from shore where jumping and diving is a favorite ritual.  The waves, however, were intense causing them to abandon the attempt to climb the boulder before they were battered against it and drowned.  Some things a Mother does not need to know.  :(

The waves on Saturday were bigger in the "Cove" than normal.

Hannah snapped a shot of my graying hair.

The "two" apparently practicing their prim and proper pose with big smiles!

In unrelated news, I came home to my giant sunflower stalk.  It is happily producing a generous crop of flowers, along with my marigolds and cosmos.

D :)

  1. I have never seen cosmos that color! They are stunning. I like your grayling hair! Your daughter seems to have inherited your smile. :)
